The ShouldBe Society

What does it mean to be a woman? When I starting the blog I wanted to explore how the collective of women express difficulty in choosing between career and motherhood, being single, getting married, sustaining a marriage, and all of the work/life balances that women assume and manage in their lives. Do we inhibit ourselves by continuously assessing if the choices we are making are the correct ones? Do the choices we make in our lives reflect what we feel we ShouldBe doing?

We should go to college. We should find a mate. We should get married. We should have children. We should maintain a home. We should be the best at everything.

Who said we ShouldBe?

Who we are

The Vision of the ShouldBe Society in 2015, originally was to promote a dialogue that questioned traditions and empowered women to explore connecting with one another; despite their differences and varying life stages. I wanted to design a community that provided a safe and supportive environment to allow for organic conversations about the issues women face, and promote the understanding that there is no one singular way of living life in order to be a "good" woman. Ultimately, the Vision of the ShouldBe Society was to create a movement to motivate women to embrace themselves and support one another, just as they are.

The more I began to explore everything that I learned about what it meant to be a woman, I realized it was grander. The Vision of the ShouldBe Society is to create a movement to motivate every human to embrace themselves and one another, just as they are.

The Mission of the ShouldBe Society is to create a safe, positive and free environment for people to un-define what a human ShouldBe, what relationships ShouldBe, and what life ShouldBe by connecting through our commonalities and honoring our differences.
